About Me

Leo Enticknap is a university lecturer and former moving image archivist living in York, United Kingdom. Since 14 November 2006 I have worked for the Institute of Communications Studies at the University of Leeds as a Lecturer in Cinema. My research and teaching interests focus on the political history of non-fiction film and television, the history of moving image technologies and the practice and ethics of archival film preservation and restoration. I also undertake consultancy work and occasional media appearances related to my areas of expertise. I am a member of, and since 2008 an elected Director of the Board of the Association of Moving Image Archivists. I was also a member of the British Film Institute's Associate Tutor Scheme, from its launch in 2000 until its dissolution in 2006.

I am not and have never registered on any currently operating social networking site: I value my privacy and have no intention of giving personal data about myself (including the copyright to it) away to organisations that I fear might exploit it commercially, or even worse. If you think that might sound a little bit strange, please read this article before passing judgment. The only other public websites to which I have contributed information about myself and my work are AMIA's online forum, email listserv archive, academia.edu and that of my workplace. If you see any information about me on Facebook, Twitter or any other social networking site, it has been put there by other people and without my permission; and accordingly, it should be treated with caution.

On this website you can find details of my CV, PhD thesis, research publications and consultancy work. If you have any enquiries related to this site or my work, you can send me a message using the 'Contact Me' page. Please use the menu bar on the left to navigate this site.
